If You Forget To Keep Up Your Streaks, Snapchat's Newest Tool Makes It Easier.

The first restore from Snap is free, but paying users can pause for more time. After Snapstreaks were introduced, many users became fixated on keeping them up, even having hundreds-strong streaks with multiple friends. Because life can get in the way, their popularity may have slightly declined, but Snap has introduced an experimental feature that may help you keep things on track even if you skip a day. You can now easily pretend that traumatic experience never occurred by tapping Restore.

Users are only eligible for one free Snap Restore, which is the caveat. You'll need to purchase additional Restores from the app for $1 each in the US if you want to stop more Snapstreaks from expiring, as noted by Gizmodo.

The company also stated in its statement that it will "soon" roll out a new feature that will allow Snapchat+ users to freeze their Streaks for extended periods of time. Snap stated that the feature will enable users to "put things on pause when they know they're moving off the grid," though it did not elaborate on how it will function. These new feature releases follow Snap's recent addition of an OpenAI chatbot that is comparable to ChatGPT to its app. Although Snap admits it could "be tricked into saying just about anything" and has even apologized in advance for its "many deficiencies," the chatbot appears as a normal user profile, presumably to make it seem more like a virtual friend.

At the moment, the chatbot is exclusively available to Snapchat+ users paying $4 a month for the service, but the company has plans to make it more widely available.
